- ➤ Longtime barista Sarah Hildebrand is opening Baker’s Coffee Company in Meta next to Rock Island Antiques—she will launch the new shop in late September or early October. Jefferson City News Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jefferson City plans to repair roads in the historic Southside area as its City Council committee forwarded a $405,685 design contract request for improvements to the 700-1100 blocks of Madison Street — officials say the project will begin after further design work is completed. - ➤ The Missouri State Capitol Commission has partnered with MOCA Services to create a master plan for restoring the Capitol Building and its surrounding area. The plan details underground additions—covering the north and south sides as well as layout changes to the south lawn—and sets the stage for future work on the restoration. - ➤ A master renovation plan by Brinkmann CM will update the eastern side of the Capitol Complex with new state offices, a parking garage, and a visitor entrance at the corner of East Capitol Avenue and Jefferson Street—plans shown in an aerial rendering. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Trivers—a St. Louis-based firm that restored the Capitol exterior in 2021—has submitted a master plan to renovate the building's north side interior, signaling a move to modernize the space.
