  • Jefferson City's annual Living Windows event brought festive spirit, live music, and winter wonderland displays to downtown on Dec. 6.  KRCG-TV
  • Cole County EMS will install a climate-controlled, secure Safe Haven Baby Box at its new headquarters in Jefferson City, offering a safe and anonymous way for individuals to surrender newborns up to 45 days old, following Missouri's Safe Place for Newborns Law.  KRCG-TV
  • The Jefferson City Toys for Tots program, coordinating with John Morgan, supported over 2,300 children by distributing more than 10,500 toys in 2023, with donations concluding this week.  KRCG-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on Dix Road in Jefferson City caused significant traffic delays, with local police advising drivers to seek alternative routes.  KRCG-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Jon Bauer, 67, was arrested in Cole County for first-degree trafficking following a traffic stop where deputies found 1.64 pounds of meth.  KRCG-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mike Parson issued an executive order to close Missouri state offices at noon on Christmas Eve to allow employees more time with family and friends during the holiday season.  KRCG-TV
  • A coalition of Missouri business groups has filed a lawsuit arguing that a voter-approved law raising the minimum wage and instituting paid sick leave should be invalidated due to constitutional violations.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Mark James has been selected as the next Director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety, set to start on Jan. 13 pending Missouri Senate confirmation.  ABC 17
  • Missouri State Sen.-elect David Gregory proposes a bill offering a $1,000 reward for reporting illegal migrants, aiming to make Missouri a leader in combating illegal immigration.  KRCG-TV
