- ➤ In late August, First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City allowed an unhoused visitor to sleep on the front step to plug in a CPAP machine. Church members later reflected on the shelter efforts as they explore further ways to serve local needs. Jefferson City News Tribune
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Muse Theatre Company presents A Christmas Carol on Dec. 11, 12 and 13 at Itsy Bitsy Broadway in Capital Mall, 3600 Country Club Drive. The production—dedicated to the late Craig Jacobs—offers tickets at $10 for adults, $5 for children and $30 for a family pass. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Governor Mike Kehoe hosted the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion to kick off the holiday season, featuring a 36-foot artificial tree and local charity efforts. The event offered candlelight tours from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (mothers and children from St. Raymond’s Society joined for charity). KRCG-TV
- ➤ Living Windows returned to Downtown Jefferson City on Dec. 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event offered Giant Holiday Inflatables, a real-snow Winter Wonderland, a holiday Character Lane, Polar Express rides, a live reindeer exhibit, a Boys and Girls Club drumline and souvenir coffee mugs with qualifying purchases from Downtown merchants. - ➤ Four candidates (Ryan Towner, Gretchen Duckworth, Trent Vallandingham and Michelle Rodemeyer) filed for three school board seats, giving voters a clear choice for local education governance. KWOS
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Doctors indicated a slow start to flu season, with about 350 confirmed cases statewide plus four in Cole County. They noted more strep and upper respiratory infections among children and only a few COVID cases reported. KWOS
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ KWOS named Blair Oaks Falcons running back Hayden Lackman Athlete of the Week after he scored four touchdowns in a Class 2 State Semi-Final win on Saturday, and he now leads the team ahead of today's State Title Game against St. Pius X (Festus). KWOS
