- ➤ Bernie Fechtel, John Kehoe, Nip Neidert and John Sheehan organized a bell-ringing competition at Hy-Vee to support the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, a tradition beginning in 2009. The winning team earns bragging rights for next year while donations stay in Cole County to help local neighbors in need—continuing a cherished community effort. KRCG-TV
- ➤ Tuesday afternoon, Governor Mike Kehoe delivered bags of venison from Missouri hunters to the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City through the Share the Harvest program that lets hunters donate extra meat to help local families. Leaders said the program has provided nearly a quarter of a million pounds of venison each year and will look to include more meat processors in counties like Cole and Boone. KRCG-TV
- ➤ Lincoln University and the Jefferson City Boys and Girls Club hosted the 4th annual Holiday Extravaganza on Tuesday night inside Scruggs University Center, where Lincoln students and local kids wrote Christmas wish lists, crafted ornaments and snow globes, and met Santa — Lincoln University also set up a small Christmas light display at Soldiers Memorial Plaza. - ➤ Cassidy-Rae Luebbering, an 18-year-old St. Thomas resident who had faced many health challenges and was a familiar figure on local radiothons, died November 28 at her home. Visitation is today from 3 through 7 at the St. Thomas school gym — a prayer service is held at 2 and the funeral will be on Thursday at 10 at the local Catholic church. KWOS
- ➤ This December, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and its 145 partner agencies plan to host food drives, meal programs and volunteer events to support local families—True North will expand its shelter to serve more survivors while Hy-Vee offers affordable $5 and $10 meal bags. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Jefferson City Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on the 500 block of East Elm Street at 6:21 a.m. on Nov 27 and the activated sprinkler system contained the flames while the American Red Cross helped displaced residents—no injuries were reported and an investigation is underway. - ➤ KRCG 13 has compiled a list of festive mid-Missouri holiday events that runs from today to Dec. 26. The list includes concerts, tree lightings, parades+ and family activities at local theaters and community centers. KRCG-TV
- ➤ Inmates at South Central Correctional Center made a 1,600-square-foot quilt for a Christmas Extravaganza after working together in the quilting room for a week and a half—workers featured in the Netflix documentary 'The Quilters' showed their craft—adding a festive touch for the holidays. - ➤ Lincoln University is a key partner in a $2.5 million NASA-funded project that turns human waste into sustainable space materials and offers underrepresented students hands-on STEM research. The three-year project—running from Aug. 1 to July 31, 2028—will send two undergraduate interns each summer to work with researchers in St. Louis and then train at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. - ➤ Legal sports betting launched Monday with over 2 million attempts to access apps and a $15 wager on the St. Louis Blues as part of a varied range of bets.
