ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • MoDOT has temporarily stopped work on the Route 8 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad after a work site incident on Nov 10 — a contract worker was injured and taken for further care — and an investigation is underway with no timetable for resuming the project.  KRCG-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Missouri State Archives holds accounts from 1833 that show the Leonid meteor shower filled the sky with falling stars — an event that left a mark in our region's history. This year's meteor shower, which started November 3rd and will continue until December 2nd, will add to that legacy as researchers examine its 33-year cycle.  KRCG-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Conservation agents are waiting on test results from the opening weekend of the deer gun season as hunters in Cole, Callaway, Osage, Boone & about 30 other counties underwent mandatory Chronic Wasting Disease screening. Officials warn that meat from infected deer should not be eaten.  KWOS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dr. Rev. Brian Kaylor— a Jefferson City native and chairman of the Baptist World Alliance's resolutions committee—delivered his lecture at Missouri River Regional Library on November 16th, stating that Christian nationalism is targeting schools and that the separation of church and state is under attack.  Jefferson City News Tribune

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Jefferson City councilmen approved a plan for a 48—unit apartment complex to be built on East Elm. Some homeowners worry that the project will raise traffic and lower property values and ask if the complex will be low-income housing.  KWOS

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior Logan Hillman helped Helias win its district title over Blue Springs by intercepting a pass for a 40 yard touchdown and catching an 18 yard pass in the second half. He will play Friday night in the Class 6 State Quarterfinals when the Crusaders travel to Nixa as both teams hold an 11 to 0 record—his performance marking him as a key leader.  KWOS
