COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ahead of Veterans Day, local residents honored veterans by lining the Bicentennial Bridge with over 4,000 homemade red poppies—an annual tribute organized by local groups that leads garlands down to Deborah Cooper Park at Adrian’s Island. The display is available for viewing from Nov. 7 through Thanksgiving.  KRCG-TV
  • Lincoln University and Aetna CVS Health have partnered to bring fresh produce to food-insecure communities across Missouri—using funds to help local farmers and community groups distribute high-quality crops this year—and they plan to expand the program into 2026 if it meets its goals.  Lincoln University of Missouri

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Plate & Pour was named Small Business of the Year by the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday evening at the Capital Bluffs Event Center. The bakery and coffee shop opened in 2021 and was acquired by Tricia and Darek Baker in December 2022.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Dutch Bros Coffee opened its new Missouri Boulevard location on November 5 with over 10 broistas dressed in a cowboys and camouflage theme. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lincoln University hosted a free full-day Small Ruminant Practical Course this fall at its George Washington Carver Farm where 75 local farmers learned techniques such as rotational grazing, nutrition, parasite prevention and market strategies for sheep and goats—practical methods meant to boost herd health and profitability. Panels of experts offered field demonstrations and real-world advice, helping participants address grazing challenges and refine feeding practices.  Lincoln University of Missouri

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mike Kehoe rang the first bell on Friday to start the Salvation Army red kettle campaign at the Capitol rotunda — volunteers will collect donations through Christmas Eve to support food programs as families face the impact of the federal government shutdown.  ABC 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Missouri men’s basketball team, fresh off an 88 to 67 win over Howard on November3, will host Southeast Missouri at Mizzou Arena Friday night—students will receive a beanie giveaway and free pizza during the game.  KWOS
