EDUCATION NEWS

  • More than 100 gardeners from Missouri gathered this fall at Lincoln University for a three-day Train the Trainer event that taught food safety, pest management, and green techniques. LU leaders and local experts led sessions—helping community members grow gardens and build partnerships to fight food insecurity.  Lincoln University of Missouri

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mike Kehoe announced that Missouri will compete for federal funds to support rural hospital care as part of the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program. The state’s Department of Social Services has developed an application that will connect healthcare providers, pharmacies and public health agencies while expanding access to doctors, maternity services and telehealth.  KRCG-TV
  • Hallsville School District retained its four-day school week and approved a no-tax-increase bond for $6.5 million to fund upgrades such as parking improvements, new classrooms, a baseball field, and security enhancements to be finished by November 2026. Jefferson City voters also extended the 7% lodging tax through 2060 to support a downtown conference center, hotel, and tourism projects.  KRCG-TV
  • The Missouri Department of Transportation is closing right-turn lanes on the Rex M. Whitton Expressway today to upgrade pedestrian facilities at intersections with Broadway, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe streets—these closures will continue into the coming weeks.  Jefferson City News Tribune
