- ➤ Local food pantries are facing extra demand as SNAP benefits remain on hold amid a federal shutdown+ furloughed federal workers worry about money with the holiday season nearing. The pantries are working to secure more supplies with a Food Bank delivery scheduled for Friday to help meet the growing need. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Three mid-Missouri restaurants—Grind, Colton’s Steak House and Grill, and West Main Pizza—are offering free meals for kids through November amid a SNAP funding freeze. - ➤ After helping his father build businesses, D.P. Moore opened stores, dealt in livestock, traded real estate and operated a farm in Linn Creek during Missouri's post-Civil War recovery — work that earned him respect as a local businessman. - ➤ The Jefferson City Council approved a resolution on Monday that lets the Missouri Association of Counties preserve part of the historic Buescher Memorial Home—saving the back building for headquarters, office space, and a training center. Renovations will start in January on a $5 million project expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete and open in 2028. ABC 17

- ➤ Missouri agriculture and conservation departments are monitoring a bird flu outbreak + officials said the risk remains low to the public while hunters and others are advised to take precautions. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Missourians buying individual health plans will face higher premiums next year as the state Department of Commerce and Insurance approved rate changes that raise costs by up to 30 percent for some carriers - while one Medica plan could jump by 110 percent.
