  • An anonymous donor funded over $400,000 in renovations at Oak Hills Golf Center to update the facility for local golfers.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Lincoln University and Nike will host the Walk It Out 3K on Friday, October 31 at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City, where alumni, students, staff, and community members will join a morning run to promote movement and wellness. Check-in starts at 6:00 a.m. and the race begins at 7:00 a.m. + Nike will award footwear prizes to the top three finishers while supporting its Give Your Best platform.  Lincoln University of Missouri

  • Jefferson City's downtown will host a Sip & Shop event this Saturday that pairs local wineries, breweries, and distilleries with storefronts to offer drink samples as shoppers browse the area. CULTURE NEWS

  • The seventh annual Sam B. Cook Memorial Organ Concert will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church on E. Capitol Ave and will honor Sam B. Cook with live musical performances.   • The Missouri State Archives looked into the haunted history of Rivercene Mansion in Howard County during American Archives Month and ahead of Halloween—reporting on family tragedies and ghost stories since its 1869 construction.  KRCG-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Missouri DHSS said the WIC program will be available in November so families can keep getting food benefits. The agency said that cost-saving steps made in early October have helped extend the program and they will alert families if benefits pause.  KRCG-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services issued an advisory Tuesday warning consumers about health risks linked to 7-OH products, which are made by converting kratom's main opioid-inducing ingredient and are far more addictive than natural kratom. The advisory states 7-OH is untested on humans and sold in forms like gummies, candies and powders, urging Missourians to avoid these products until more safety data is available.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Local public safety experts warned that Halloween and LU Homecoming events bring fun but also increase the risk of accidents if children and drivers are not careful.
