  • Local models will hit the runway on Nov. 8 for a fashion show celebrating the 25th anniversary of a Jefferson City nonprofit & supporting women in need of professional clothing for interviews and work.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Olive Garden is coming to Jefferson City at 504 Missouri Boulevard near the Marriott Hotel. A spokesperson said no opening date has been set—more details will be available when construction begins.  ABC 17
  • Socket Fiber now offers up to 10 gigabits per second to an extra 11,000 homes and businesses in Jefferson City—expanding fast internet access to more areas.  Jefferson City News Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A recent study estimated that THC beverages could generate up to $75.4m annually in Missouri—supporting a national potential of $9.9b to $14.9b—as companies produce low-dose THC seltzers now sold in bars, restaurants, and stores. Missouri law enforcement and officials have raised safety concerns and plan stricter measures to regulate these untested products.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Lincoln University of Missouri is celebrating its 100th Homecoming from October 26 through November 1 — a centennial event that brings together students, alumni and faculty for activities including Lincoln's Got Talent and a Homecoming Parade — marking 100 years of Blue Tiger pride.  Lincoln University of Missouri

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri Department of Conservation is asking turkey hunters for input on reducing the nonresident spring bag limit from two bearded birds to one, except for nonresident landowners during the first week–this change is meant to ease crowding for resident hunters. Public comments will be accepted until November 7.  KRCG-TV
  • The Missouri Department of Conservation reminded deer hunters ahead of November firearm season that new rules require disposing of unused deer parts in a sanitary landfill or on the land where the deer was taken and Telechecking deer by 10 p.m. on the same day—hunters in Chronic Wasting Disease zones such as Callaway, Miller, and Morgan must test their deer on the day of harvest and follow varied youth and antlerless permit limits.  KRCG-TV
  • Missouri has announced a new child care program to help families afford quality care and support the workforce. State and private partners including TOOTRiS and Child Care Aware of Missouri will launch Missouri Child Care Works in November — its goal is to share expenses among the state, employers and families.  The Missouri Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Healthcare insurance costs in Missouri will rise in 2026 as open enrollment begins, and rates from companies like Anthem Blue Cross are expected to jump from about $619 to $784—Missourians may face increases up to 46% when enhanced tax breaks expire.  ABC 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Belle Boessen, a senior for the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons softball team, hit a key home run last Tuesday to help her team win a district title with a 17-2 victory over Owensville. On Saturday she tied the single season record by hitting her 11th home run in the Class 3 State Quarterfinal game against Doniphan.  KWOS
