  • Local residents are invited to honor Vietnam War veterans on Thursday after their bus trip to Missouri's National Veterans Memorial in Perryville — local officials say the event will recognize the veterans' service and sacrifices.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • In 1861, Julien Guyot—a jeweler born in 1812 in Switzerland—came to Jefferson City after a long journey and set up his jewelry business in a High Street building that once housed his work and stands as a part of the city’s early commerce.  Jefferson City News Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • A photographer from Hartsburg earned an honorable mention in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources photo contest that displays the state's natural beauty—his win recognizes his skill in capturing local nature.  Jefferson City News Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lincoln University students and faculty will travel to New Orleans from March 28th to 31st for the ARD Research Symposium — a meeting where researchers will share work and build partnerships. Presenters must submit abstracts by Oct. 20, and travel costs will be covered for those selected.  Lincoln University of Missouri
  • Nearly 60 students attended a career fair at Lincoln University's Scruggs University Center ballroom where state agencies, private firms and nonprofits offered career opportunities. The event featured booths from groups like the FBI, Missouri Department of Agriculture and Farm Journal (which highlighted agricultural careers) and promoted both undergraduate and graduate programs.  Lincoln University of Missouri

  • Saturday's rain postponed the Class 3 District 3 Softball Championship, and the game between Southern Boone and California is now set for Monday, October 20 at 5 p.m. in California.  KRCG-TV
