- ➤ The Jefferson City Liberty Sister statue was scrubbed clean by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as a service project for America's 250th birthday. Ellen Sandhaus (chapter regent) said the cleaning took place in front of the Missouri Department of Transportation Central Office on W. Capitol Avenue. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ Lincoln University will host the JC200 History Symposium on Saturday, October 18 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Pawley Theater on its campus—part of Jefferson City’s free 200th anniversary celebration that includes historical presentations. Lincoln University of Missouri

- ➤ A new statewide coalition called MODATA—Missourians for Data and Technology Advancement has launched today to promote smart, sustainable and clear data center development in Missouri. Leaders from business, labor and energy said the group will work with state and local partners to create jobs, boost tax bases and keep our state competitive. The Missouri Times

- ➤ Lincoln University reported a nearly 10 percent increase in fall enrollment as its total reached 2,256 students—covering both graduate and undergraduate programs. This growth shows rising interest in higher education. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Today the Blair Oaks School District Board of Education will hear a presentation from community members about adding a boys soccer program—parents are urging the board to consider the proposal for local student athletes. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ State funding for MOScholars vouchers was mostly used for religious schools—nearly 98% of funds went to Catholic, Christian, Jewish, and Islamic institutions. Lawmakers have said tax dollars are subsidizing private religious education while new state funds expanded scholarships for waiting students. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ The 'Show Me Healthy Women' program offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for Missouri women who meet income and coverage guidelines. Eligible women with incomes at or below 250% of the federal poverty level + without insurance for these services can enroll by calling 866.726.9926 or visiting the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website. - ➤ Golfers and former athletes competed on Monday at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in the 31st Annual Tom Henke Charity Classic Golf Tournament to raise funds for the Special Learning Center and diabetes research—31 teams took part in the event. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ The Harlem Wizards entertained the crowd at Jefferson City High School on Oct. 13th with trick shots and games in a charity basketball event—350 tickets were sold at an event organized by the Lewis and Clark Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization.
