- ➤ Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City will host its annual chili cook-off and cornhole tournament on Oct. 23 at the Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fairgrounds. The event will offer local residents a day of food and friendly competition. Jefferson City News Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jefferson City's Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend that the City Council approve a 48-unit apartment complex at 1740 E. Elm St.—designed for low-income residents—even though some Del Cerro Drive residents oppose the plan out of safety worries. The City Council will hold a public hearing on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at City Hall before a final decision is made. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Cole County approved construction permits in September to support local building projects—an action expected to guide future development in the county. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Missouri's general revenue collections fell 9.2% in September — dropping from $1.24 billion last year to $1.13 billion this year — with sharp declines in pass-through and corporate taxes. Individual income and sales and use tax collections rose slightly, the state's Division of Budget and Planning reported. Jefferson City News Tribune
