- ➤ Shoppers will hunt for hidden gems from 8 a.m.—noon today at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary at 2211 St. Mary's Blvd as hospital employees donated items for the event. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ The Madison Street parking garage is in poor condition with parts and ramps closed off due to crumbling areas, and it will be replaced by a new conference center — hotel project. KWOS
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Helias Catholic High School announced its Homecoming Court and queen this week. Helene Neuenswander (daughter of Curtis and Sarah Neuenswander and a member of First Assembly of God) was chosen by school officials. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Mid-Missouri 4-H clubs are preparing to celebrate National 4-H week from Oct. 5th to Oct. 11th—hosting events like a barn dance at the Cole County Fairgrounds. Sean Eberle, a 4-H Youth Development Educator in Cole, Callaway and Osage counties, said the program helps kids learn essential life skills such as respect and money skills. KRCG-TV
- ➤ Lincoln University President John Moseley led a tour on Friday of the framed three floors of the under-construction Health and Security Sciences Institute—where members of the state legislature, Jefferson City Council and Cole County Commission envisioned future classes and events. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Students from Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Lewis and Clark Middle School toured under-construction parts of their campuses to see new classrooms, media centers, and libraries. The school district said crews are building six new classrooms in the former media center—construction set to finish by the 2026—27 school year. KRCG-TV

- ➤ Rita West, a Cole County paramedic and lead EMT course instructor with 23 years of EMS experience, scrubbed the headlight of an EMS truck on Tuesday at Capital City High School and cleaned the truck’s interior and exterior at each shift change—she became a paramedic in 2011. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Gov. Mike Kehoe ordered the Missouri State Capitol dome to be lit red today to honor the firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. A candlelight vigil will be held at 7 p.m. at 5550 Dunn Drive—Kingdom City, and a memorial service is scheduled for Sunday at 10:30 a.m. KRCG-TV

- ➤ The Blair Oaks Falcons, who are 3-0 in Tri-County Conference play so far, will take a break from conference games tonight to host nonconference Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves at the Falcon Athletic Complex with kickoff at 7 p.m. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Last night, Columbia Hickman played the Jays at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City while Capital City took the field at Helias Interparish and Mexico faced Fulton in the 125th Highway 54 Bowl at Robert Fisher Jr. football stadium. Zimmer Radio broadcast the games on KTGR for the Hickman contest, Newsradio 950 KWOS for the Capital City match, and Big 900 KFAL for the bowl—marking a key week in the high school football season.
