  • Jefferson City YMCA will host its annual youth music festival on Oct.4 at the 63 Soccer Complex on Renz Road to raise funds for its Outreach Fund that supports local youth programs—attendees will enjoy live performances from returning acts, games, and food from local vendors. Tickets can be purchased online, at nearby YMCA centers, or at the venue on the day of the event.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Porchfest, a family-friendly arts festival featuring live front-porch music, will return to Forest Hill Avenue and West Main Street from 1-4 p.m.—local residents are invited to enjoy the event.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Harold Creed, who spent nearly 55 years at Schulte's Fresh Foods training over 1,000 employees, was honored with Missouri's 2025 Outstanding Older Worker of the Year Award by Lt. Gov. David Wasinger yesterday in the Missouri Capitol rotunda.  Jefferson City News Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lincoln University hired CPA Pamela Sandbothe as vice president of administration and finance and she will begin her duties on Sept. 29. She comes from DHSS—where she served as controller and gained nearly 20 years of accounting experience—to lead the university’s financial strategy.  Lincoln University of Missouri
  • Jefferson City students from Capital City High, Jefferson City High, Blair Oaks High and Lighthouse Preparatory Academy—gathered Wednesday for See You at the Pole to pray for protection, courage and spiritual awakening for their schools, community and nation.  Jefferson City News Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Cole County judge ruled Tuesday that the new law giving Missouri’s attorney general the sole power to appeal preliminary injunctions is unconstitutional because it limits fair access to the courts. Officials said they will appeal the ruling—attorney Chuck Hatfield plans to contest other parts of the law.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • MoDOT is recruiting 200 to 300 part-time maintenance workers to clear roads before winter as the department seeks extra staff and offers eight-hour shifts with bonus pay. Applicants must be at least 18, have a commercial driver's license, and pass a background check — the department is also filling full-time positions.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Governor Mike Kehoe awarded Missouri Public Safety Medals on Tuesday during a Jefferson City ceremony to 29 first responders, two correction officers, and one court officer for heroic, life-saving actions during critical incidents in 2024—he also honored six civilians with Public Safety Civilian Partnership Awards for assisting during emergencies.  KRCG-TV
