- ➤ The Links—an international women's group—is hosting Rhapsody in Green: Vineyard Vibes at Canterbury Hill Winery and Restaurant on Oct. 5 to raise over $10,000 for scholarships and charity programs. The event will have music, dancing, food and a wine tasting from 2-6 p.m. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ United Way of Central Missouri held its 100th anniversary block party last night along Madison Street—next to the governor's mansion—to start its 2025 campaign to raise $2.8 million for local agencies, and Pacesetters raised over $1.3 million before the event. Today, United Way hosts its Day of Caring as community members volunteer to support local non-profits. KRCG-TV
- ➤ Hundreds of people gathered Wednesday night outside the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City to honor Charlie Kirk—founder of Turning Point USA who was shot and killed last week during a campus event at Utah Valley University. KWOS

- ➤ A local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution gathered on High Street in Jefferson City on Sept. 17 to mark Constitution Day—commemorating that bells rang at 4 p.m. in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787 when the Constitution was signed. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ According to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center's August job report, Missouri added 33,900 jobs+ its unemployment rate increased from 3.7 percent to 4.1 percent compared to August 2024. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ The Jefferson City Council will take up the final 2026 budget at its Oct. 6 meeting with only a few changes requested by city staff+ ensuring the proposal reflects updated financial plans. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Gov. Mike Kehoe and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced on September 9 that they streamlined child care licensing requirements by cutting at least 10 percent of outdated rules and combining regulations into one rulebook—meant to support safe, reliable, and affordable care while a new tri-share program is set to help families share costs.
