  • On September 13, Jefferson City firefighters participated in the Tunnel to Towers 5k at the Capitol — they earned the fastest firehouse award.  KRCG-TV
  • Central Missouri Honor Flight is preparing for its final flight today, ending a 16-year tradition of taking Mid-Missouri veterans to Washington, D.C.—70 Vietnam veterans and one Korean War veteran will depart from St. Louis after gathering at the Courtyard Marriott in Columbia while the community is invited to welcome them on Monday night.  ABC 17
  • Jefferson City Tunnel to Towers 5K organizers honored top fundraisers John and Lisa Meyer early Saturday morning as area children cheered and supported local heroes—marking the 10th annual event dedicated to backing those who serve. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • People Not Politicians filed a referendum on Friday to let voters approve or deny Gov. Kehoe's Missouri First redistricting map — a citizen's veto — while lawmakers plan to collect signatures. A lawsuit arguing that redistricting amid a census is unconstitutional and a separate NAACP suit were filed, and a judge will hear both arguments Monday.  ABC 17

HEALTH NEWS

  • Jessica Phelps, who was diagnosed with Alpha-gal syndrome from tick bites two years ago, turned her challenge into opportunity by opening an eatery that makes allergy-friendly baked goods.
