COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nine Mid-Missouri veterans enjoyed a free flight over Jefferson City in a World War II vintage Stearman aircraft offered by Dream Flights Tuesday as part of an event to thank U.S. veterans. Governor Mike Kehoe and sponsors including Veterans United, Sports Clips, and Missouri Health Care Association gathered to honor the service and contributions of these veterans.  KRCG-TV
  • The Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson City celebrated 30 years with its Cork, Fork and Brew fundraiser on Monday night—about 440 supporters attended an auction and dinner that helped raise funds to change kids' lives.  Jefferson City News Tribune

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A serious accident on westbound Highway 54 at State Road HH near Fulton injured someone and led the Callaway County Sheriff's Office to close the lane, with traffic being rerouted through Fulton using State Road F—expect delays until more details are available.  KRCG-TV

  • Lincoln University held its Opening Convocation on September 4 at Mitchell Auditorium at the Richardson Fine Arts Center to mark the new academic year as interim provost Piyusha Singh presided; President Moseley and keynote speaker Treaka Young spoke about the university’s progress—highlighting a commitment to unity and academic success.  Lincoln University of Missouri
  • Kids Win Missouri launched MissouriChildCareWorks — a program that will cover up to 75% of childcare costs — at a press conference held yesterday with parents, child care providers and local business leaders present.  Jefferson City News Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mike Kehoe announced Tuesday morning that Missouri will change child care licensing rules with Executive Order 25-15 after a review of over 1,400 guidelines. The change will cut more than 10% of outdated rules—combining them into one rulebook and adding separate standards for school-age programs.  KRCG-TV
  • In Jefferson City, Governor Mike Kehoe ordered the Capitol dome to shine orange this morning through Wednesday's sunrise to spotlight hunger action month — the dome supports six food banks that serve more than one million Missourians annually.  KWOS
  • Catherine Hanaway was sworn in Monday as Missouri Attorney General, replacing Andrew Bailey as the state’s first female Attorney General. The former Speaker of the Missouri House spent most of her career in Jefferson City while Bailey begins a new role as co-deputy director with the FBI.  KWOS
