Local kayaker Yvonne Townsend completed a 1,150-mile journey along the Lake of Ozarks shoreline on Tuesday near Bagnell Dam, where family and friends greeted her.
🎓 Education
At the Missouri State Fair, 4-H and FFA youth took part in the Youth Sheep Skillathon, answering a 10-question quiz on sheep production (divisions for ages 8–10, 11–13, and 14 and over).
Winners earned $50 gift cards while Lincoln University Cooperative Extension connected families and producers with sheep care tips.
Lincoln University held its Opening Convocation on Thursday, Sept.
3 at Mitchell Auditorium at the Richardson Fine Arts Center, celebrating the start of the 2026-27 academic year; President Moseley and keynote speaker Dr. Paynter urged students to pursue opportunities and overcome challenges (emphasizing persistence).
🏛️ Government
A water main break has forced the eastbound lane on West High Street near the viaduct to close until Friday (weather permitting) while contractors repair the break.
The lane will reopen when weather conditions improve.
