ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A car crash injured two men early Sunday morning when a 20-year-old Rolla driver drove on the wrong side of U.S. 63 at 3:15 a.m. in Boone County and collided with a 21-year-old Jefferson City driver, with both men later transported by ambulance to University Hospital while wearing seatbelts.  KRCG-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Erman Schneider, born in 1915 and raised on a farm south of Jefferson City, was drafted into the Army in 1942 and deployed overseas in early 1945—he died weeks later from wounds suffered in combat.  Jefferson City News Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Federal officials are considering moving marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3 which could change Missouri's cannabis market that currently sees high wholesale prices due to limited licenses. Experts say the review will be a long process—featuring new rules and public input—and may bring tax relief for licensed operators while increasing compliance costs for some businesses.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Fireflies lit up Missouri nights this summer because heavy spring rains and warm weather helped them shine, though experts say one in three species is at risk worldwide from habitat loss, pesticide use, and light pollution.   • The Junior Cavs third grade team left the Capital City High School field on Sunday after a scoreless game against the Battle Bruins — hundreds of boys from grades three to six will join the Central Missouri Youth Football League to play tackle football this fall.
