- ➤ Prosecutors asked a judge to allow cellphone location data — evidence that may support the case — in a Jefferson City murder trial where Sergio Sayles is accused of stabbing his girlfriend Jasmine King in 2023; his trial will take place this fall in Columbia. KWOS

- ➤ Cole County prosecutor Locke Thompson announced he will no longer accept criminal referrals from deputy Mercy Gonzalez—who pled guilty on Aug. 8 to reckless driving and failing to obey a traffic control device and was sentenced to unsupervised probation with 40 community service hours—because her actions now fall under office policy. - ➤ Governor Mike Kehoe hosted his first Governor’s Ham Breakfast at the Missouri State Fair Thursday morning by addressing a sold-out crowd about Missouri agriculture successes. He did not announce a special session for redrawing the state’s congressional map (official plans remain undecided) amid mounting political pressure. KRCG-TV
- ➤ On Aug. 14, the Jefferson City Homelessness Task Force elected Scott Johnston as chair — Susan Cook became vice chair as members set a plan to develop recommendations addressing homelessness before the extended April deadline.
