More than 500 students in Jefferson City received backpacks filled with school supplies Saturday from a giveaway hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church and Building Community Bridges.

The event also offered food and extra supplies—helping families get ready for the new school year.

On Sunday at Memorial Park Family Aquatic Center, over 100 dogs attended the Hot Dippity Dog Swim—Tanner, a lab-hound mix who has swum in a city pool for 11 years, showed his enduring love for the water as confirmed by his owner Jenny Boyd.

Local blind musician David Rice will play bluegrass on the mandolin at a home in Holts Summit and appear as the featured act at the Mokane World's Fair on Aug.

9:30 a.m. — Ellis-Porter Riverside Pool — $35 — Participants aged 6-17 tackle fun obstacles, including slides and mud pits, while adults can join in for a small fee.
