  • Nonprofits in Jefferson City are offering transportation solutions to help people in recovery as statewide challenges in housing and transit are being examined. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Missouri State Highway Patrol warned that drivers and pedestrians should be alert for changing traffic and increased school zone activity as school begins in the coming weeks—this advisory comes as more buses and foot traffic are expected to slow travel.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Shayne Martin recently moved to Jefferson City to serve as a public information officer for the Missouri Office of Administration—he now works in a Capitol hallway office to deliver clear and accurate updates to the public.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • A new Missouri law will change the timeline for calling 811 before and after excavations starting Aug. 28 so that calls must be made earlier and followed by a check three weeks later. Senate Bill 133 was sponsored by Sen. Travis Fitzwater + carried in the House by Rep. Josh Hurlbert.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Cole County EMS plans to install Mid-Missouri's first baby box in Jefferson City but faces extra challenges as a three-story load-bearing wall needs major modifications—adding nearly $19,000 in costs—and teams are exploring cost reductions while aiming for a fall opening.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • A Jefferson City councilman suggested that the city hire lawyers—providing a legal option to enforce tax liens—and recoup some of its costs for code enforcement.  Jefferson City News Tribune
