- ➤ The Jefferson City Salvation Army held a Back-to-School Drive on Wednesday morning that provided 120 children with crayons, pencils, and clothes + ensuring they are ready as local school districts began the 2025-2026 school year. - ➤ Demon Tyrone Johnson Sr., 40, allegedly sexually abused a disabled woman at her home on Monday and was charged on Wednesday with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree burglary — he is held without bond at Cole County Jail. ABC 17

- ➤ Richard Kampeter, Gary Schell and former Governor Mike Parson were named to Missouri’s Agriculture Hall of Fame to honor their work in building a global pet food company and their long-standing support for rural communities — an accolade celebrating hard work and local values. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ JeffTran will offer students free rides on the Tripper Routes for the Fall 2025 semester — the service picks up students from Helias Catholic High School, Jefferson City High School, and St. Peter School before heading to the JeffTran Transfer Station at 820 E. Miller Street. Buses then depart at 3:20 p.m. to serve various city routes. KRCG-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin work on the westbound bridge over the Moreau River Drainage on Highway 54 south of Jefferson City on August 11. Motorists will face delays as the lane is reduced to one with an 11-foot restriction—work that will continue until October. KRCG-TV
