The Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair opened Monday night on the fairgrounds in triple-digit heat, with organizers limiting outside food and water refill stations to keep fairgoers+livestock safe while EMS and county services monitored heat-related issues.
🎓 Education
Fourteen high school students attended a free STEAM camp at Lincoln University from July 6 — 12 on the Jefferson City campus and Busby Farm where they learned about drones, robotics and digital agriculture.
The camp, funded by NASA and USDA programs, offered hands-on sessions to explore future career paths in science and tech.
Lincoln University's ISFOP program gives small farmers and gardeners free workshops and on-farm visits, highlighted by a three-day Small Farmers Conference returning in November on campus.
Extension experts will cover agribusiness, sustainable agriculture, and livestock management to boost local food skills.
