CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Jefferson City man, 23-year-old Keiron L. Robinson, was charged with Shooting Firearm from a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in connection to a shots fired incident on July 31 at 10:23 p.m. near East Elm and Clark Avenue (officers recovered 17 9mm shell casings and surveillance video linked his 2023 Volkswagen Jetta) and he is now held without bond at Cole County Jail. - ➤ Keiron Robinson (23) was arrested on Monday and charged on Tuesday in Cole County with four felonies for allegedly shooting at a vehicle near East Elm Street and Clark Avenue, with police recovering 17 shell casings and finding the gun (which a witness admitted was held by Robinson) during a search warrant. - ➤ Burford Royston's photos from his 1950s mail route in Howard County appear in an exhibit at the State Historical Society of Missouri that will run through September—over 100 images document everyday life. A new book featuring his work will be available on July 12 with a reception scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ Senate leader O'Laughlin from Shelbina said Tuesday that she wants MU Health Care to accept Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield's offer by Thursday so that thousands of patients can regain access to their doctors—she urged lawmakers to act quickly after a hearing where Anthem doubled its proposal. Anthem, which covers about 90,000 patients, has faced delays and disagreements over reimbursement that have left many off network since February. ABC 17
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mental health experts say that lacking a home makes it much harder for people to beat addiction and mental illness. Research from 2022 and 2024 in Missouri shows hundreds of unhoused individuals suffer from these issues — and local services like Landmark Recovery in Jefferson City are working to provide safe housing as the first step toward recovery. - ➤ Local experts at Landmark Recovery and the Missouri Department of Mental Health say stable housing is key to help unhoused people with substance use and mental health issues, as research found over 400 people faced substance problems and more than 460 had mental health disorders. They stressed that without a safe place to sleep, recovery is much harder to reach—urging community support for housing solutions. KRCG-TV

- ➤ An open lot in west Jefferson City hosted the groundbreaking for the Stronghold Landing project, which will add 40 affordable apartments with two bedroom and three bedroom units plus a community center — dog park for low-income residents. The $13.7 million project, backed by state and federal funds and part of the Race to 50 initiative, is set to finish construction in July 2026. ABC 17
