  • The Three Rivers Helping Hands Community Foundation donated a check to support the expansion of the Missouri River Days program into Jefferson City—this effort will add new events for local residents.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Dutch Bros. Coffee, a chain from Oregon, will open a new drive-thru on Missouri Boulevard later this year — the location will feature its iconic windmill logo and offer its popular menu.  Jefferson City News Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Cole County library will present a talk on the Battles of Bunker Hill and Lexington and Concord—part of 250th anniversary celebrations of the American Revolution that mark the nation’s founding and give history fans a chance to learn about these key battles.  Jefferson City News Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • During a strong June reporting period, Cole County's sales tax revenue moved closer to 2024 levels while its use tax revenue increased from last year—showing mixed results in the second quarter.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Kalley Brase, a Nichols Career Center graduate, changed her view about the social media & content development program by earning Adobe software certificates that impressed a professor at William Penn University who noted most students usually gain these skills later in college.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Lincoln University master’s student Asia Duncan received the Dr. James H. Seeney and Mrs. Ardis (Fox) Seeney Memorial Scholarship to support her goal of teaching at the college level. The award will help her advance her education career.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Nichols Career Center’s community partnerships with local businesses give students hands-on training, mock interviews and internship placement that open career paths. HEALTH NEWS

  • Elizabeth Payne walked two miles on a busy Jefferson City sidewalk on Saturday while temperatures rose above 90°F—many residents worked, biked, and swam despite the heat. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the area through 9 p.m. Tuesday—residents are urged to wear light clothing, limit hard outdoor work, and drink plenty of water.  Jefferson City News Tribune
