- ➤ Thirty-four area nonprofits will expand services or complete special projects with nearly $330,000 from United Way of Central Missouri. The grants were handed out at Aging Best Center on Christy Drive — they will help partner agencies address urgent needs in nine Mid-Missouri counties. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ A Jefferson City woman and a Miller County man are facing drug charges after police found meth and paraphernalia in a car on Monday in the 200 block of East Commercial Way—both are scheduled to appear in court on July 15. Jefferson City News Tribune
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Jefferson City Parks will host its annual Art Around Town showcase next week (the free event will display a variety of art media from 4-8 p.m.), giving local artists a chance to share their work. Jefferson City News Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln University Cooperative Extension began its land-grant legacy in 1890 and now supports over 30 community gardens that help fight food insecurity and teach local farming skills in Missouri. The program also includes the G-A-R-D-E-N initiative - which supplies seeds, tools and guidance to both urban and rural communities - to extend its outreach and education efforts. - ➤ Lincoln University hosted its annual Carver Farm Field Day on Wednesday, June 11 near Jefferson City, inviting visitors to get advice and learn about farming research such as blueberry, elderberry, quinoa plots & aquaculture and poultry projects. University President John Moseley and local gardener Charlie Bernskoetter helped guide attendees through the new programs. Jefferson City News Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri State Highway Patrol added ghost graphics to 20 vehicles to help officers spot dangerous driving, rolling out 10 before Memorial Day and planning to dispatch 10 more before July 4. Nine vehicles were assigned so each regional troop gets one while the other 11 will serve areas with high complaint numbers—aiming to curb recklessness on Missouri highways. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Columbia-based Boone Health reached a new four-year agreement with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield that guarantees in-network access for all Anthem members—bringing stability to thousands of mid-Missourians—while MU Health Care remains out-of-network after contract talks failed on April 1.
