  • A large crowd gathered at the Kids Fishing Derby in Jefferson City, drawing local families to enjoy a day of fishing and friendly competition. Organizers said the event offered children a chance to learn simple fishing skills and have fun together.  Jefferson City News Tribune

  • Sugar Britches Bakery and More hosted a soft opening for its new expansion space, The Den, at West McCarty and Bolivar streets in Jefferson City—local Chamber Ambassadors were welcomed as the business showcased its expanded offerings.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • MU Health Care's newest pharmacy will open Monday in Jefferson City, giving residents an additional option for prescription services—continuing the expansion of Mizzou's local health network.  Jefferson City News Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Eric Hoy—director of Cole County EMS—was named Chief EMS Officer last Thursday when the Center for Public Safety Excellence honored him as part of an exclusive group.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe and the state Senate reached an agreement on increased disaster aid after a tornado struck St. Louis last month. Officials said the move comes amid uncertain federal responses — extra help may be needed.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • MoDOT began phase two improvements on Highway 54 in Jefferson City as part of its Bridge Bundle after storms moved the traffic shift to Wednesday. The work will narrow lanes and close four ramps near Linden Drive and Stadium Boulevard—Cole County EMS said the nearby exit to Capital Region Medical Center will remain open so emergency response will not be delayed.  ABC 17
