COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ John Bond, a man from Brazito raised on a local farm, was drafted in the spring of 1918 and trained at Camp Funston before being sent to France with Company F of the 354th Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in combat on November 2nd and died on November 11th — the same day the World War I armistice was signed — marking a lasting sacrifice for his community. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ Shelter Insurance president Rockne Corbin said that over the past decade tornado hot spots shifted east so that Missouri now faces higher risk after storms damaged areas like Columbia—he added that the company will update its core IT systems to be more responsive in future storms. KWOS

- ➤ Governor Mike Kehoe requested a federal disaster declaration for St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, Iron, New Madrid, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne counties after March 16 tornadoes and May 16 storms caused heavy damage and seven deaths. He sent a letter to FEMA and deployed the Missouri National Guard to aid cleanup starting May 28—actions aimed at helping residents rebuild homes and restore key services. KRCG-TV
