- ➤ Jefferson City now has a new furniture store — Midwest Clearance Center — that opened last month in the former American Freight space and offers many of the same furniture options local shoppers enjoyed before. The store is holding its grand opening this weekend. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Sugar Britches Market and More at 629 W. McCarty St started changes on May 21 as it began expanding by converting its current storefront into a production space and using the vacant building for retail and restaurant services. Owner Angela Murphy said the business will add new services like party rentals and an expanded menu—set to reopen in the new layout on the first Tuesday in June. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ Lucas Schwaller (a Helias Catholic High School graduate) will have his first novel published in June, bringing his literary work to the local community. Jefferson City News Tribune

- ➤ On Thursday evening, Cole County EMS celebrated National EMS Week by receiving support from local rural agencies. Two ambulances from Osage Ambulance District, one from Mid-Mo Ambulance District, and one from Callaway County provided the needed coverage. Jefferson City News Tribune
