ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Four people and three pets were displaced after a house fire broke out early Sunday morning in Jefferson City when firefighters responded around 1 a.m. to heavy smoke and fire from the basement garage at 1000 Block of West McCarty Street — the home suffered extensive smoke damage and the vehicle was declared a total loss while the displaced individuals received Red Cross support.  ABC 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Missouri House approved a $52.5 billion budget that left out key funding for several Jefferson City projects—marking a departure from its usual collaboration with the Senate—prompting concerns over local priorities.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Missourians have until June 6 to submit comments on the state's five-year transportation improvement plan that includes 18 highway and bridge projects in Cole County, 17 in Callaway, and 10 in Moniteau. The draft plan also details that the Missouri Boulevard intersection in Jefferson City will receive signals and a turn lane in 2026 — a change aimed at improving traffic flow.  Jefferson City News Tribune
