  • Residents visited our sister city in Germany earlier this month to honor a bond formed when German immigrants settled here and named the area Munichburg. They met with local leaders to strengthen the ongoing connection between the two cities.  Jefferson City News Tribune

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Jefferson City hotelier known for his skepticism of conference centers is planning to build a new facility in Columbia with no public funds. Raman Puri, CEO of the Puri Group of Enterprises, presented plans for a 46,450-square-foot venue that will include a ballroom, outdoor patio plus two five-story hotels with a total of 302 rooms.  Jefferson City News Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High school seniors at Jefferson City and nearby schools played a water gun chase game called Senior Assassin, a social media trend that has drawn many students to participate across the area. The game continues to spark interest as it unfolds today.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Lincoln University senior Nia Walker was named to the 2025 ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge Student Voting Honor Roll—one of 232 students nationwide recognized for her nonpartisan work to boost voter registration, education and turnout during the 2024 election cycle.  Lincoln University of Missouri

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cole County staff helped residents file 471 senior citizen tax freeze applications last week—97 were submitted in person on Wednesday, 154 on Friday, with 146 online and 74 dropped off.  Jefferson City News Tribune
