GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Revenue mobile office— a modified 28-foot trailer— assisted its first customers Tuesday morning when it was parked at the state Capitol. It is designed to help Missourians statewide when local offices close unexpectedly due to disasters. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Cole County started accepting applications on May 7 to let eligible seniors lock in their 2025 home property tax rate and save money on rising costs + seniors must be 62 or older by January 1 and apply online or in person by July 31 with proper identification and residency documents. KRCG-TV
- ➤ MoDOT advised Lake of the Ozarks tourists to use alternative routes instead of passing through Jefferson City because crews have reduced Highway 54 to two lanes for bridge rehabilitation—lanes are now 11 feet wide with speeds as low as 35 mph and the work will continue until October with an incentive to finish earlier. This advisory aims to ease traffic delays in the Jefferson City area. KRCG-TV
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Transportation is delaying work on the Route 179 bridge over Moniteau Creek from May 12 to May 19 due to scheduling changes. The bridge south of Sandy Hook will be closed through mid-July and detours will show drivers a route using Missouri Route 87 plus Cole County Route N. KRCG-TV

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MU Health Care and Anthem did not reach an agreement, leaving more than 90,000 patients out of network as of April 1—affecting care for residents across the state. Leaders from the Ozarks Schools Benefits Association, which serves over 120 school districts, warned that higher health benefits costs may come until a deal is reached—raising concerns over future rate increases.
