COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lincoln University’s Innovative Small Farmers’ Outreach Program has worked with Missouri farmers and gardeners before spring, giving guidance on starting seeds—helping them prepare for a good harvest. CRIME NEWS

  • Former inmate Kenneth Beck, 52, who is serving a life sentence for murder at Jefferson City Correctional Center, has been charged with First Degree Assault, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Violence to an Employee of Corrections after he hit his cellmate with his hands and a food service tray on September 13th, causing several broken bones.  KRCG-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Jefferson City School District awarded the Seed-to-Service Scholarship Monday to support students who plan to study education and return to teach—an effort designed to plant a seed for future local educators.  Jefferson City News Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Jefferson City Council approved a $500,000 roundabout design on West Edgewood Drive during Monday's meeting—this marks the first step in replacing two intersections.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Lt. Gov. David Wasinger said he will take a larger role in the Senate if rules are changed after a five-hour budget debate rushed work on a $49.7 billion spending package. Senate President Pro Tem Cindy O'Laughlin countered that only senators can speak and set the rules — a stance that shows he faces strong pushback over rule reform.  Jefferson City News Tribune
