- ➤ Jefferson City will host several community events in the coming weeks including a senior resource fair at Capital Mall on Wednesday, a Treat Your Mother Craft and Vendor Show on Saturday at the Jaycees Cole County Fairgrounds, and Sip and Shop 2025 downtown with a $15 entry fee. Additional events include the state track championships at Jefferson City High School on May 23-24 and 30-31 and a People Pow Wow celebrating Native American culture on May 24-25 at the fairgrounds. - ➤ In April, Jefferson City approved business licenses for many local firms—covering contractors, retailers, and temporary businesses. - ➤ A Jefferson City woman faces a felony theft charge after allegedly stealing over $1,000 in merchandise from TJ Maxx where she worked as an assistant manager & camera footage and a home search provided evidence & she is set to appear in court on May 27. Jefferson City News Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Families and survivors gathered at the Capitol on Friday to honor Missouri law enforcement officers who died in 2024, including Phylicia Carson, Officer Cody Allen, Lake Lafayette Police Chief Steven Singer, and Officer David Lee, while additional names were added to the Law Enforcement Memorial Wall of Honor. Governor Mike Kehoe and Attorney General Andrew Bailey will lead the memorial service today at 10 a.m.—the event offers a moment of comfort as community members remember the sacrifices made. - ➤ The Jefferson City Council will vote Monday on a $511,472 contract to redesign two intersections in the Fourth Ward. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Kyle Bruemmer, who began his career in the Public Works department (his first job), has returned as the new Public Works director at City Hall. He hopes his final role will be in the same department (where he first started his work). Jefferson City News Tribune
