- ➤ Lincoln University Cooperative Extension held a native fruit pruning workshop in March and a soilborne pathogen learning circle in April, giving farmers vital techniques to boost crop production. The program also supports local commerce with a Farmers Market starting in May—providing a venue for producers to sell fresh goods—and plans further workshops to benefit the community. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Mike Kehoe said the dome and memorial will be lit blue from sunset on May 2 until sunrise on May 4 to honor fallen law enforcement officers, with a Candlelight Vigil at 8 p.m. on May 2 and a Memorial Service at 10 a.m. on May 3 (the names of officers who died in 2024 and earlier have been added to the Wall of Honor). HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Funding for the Missouri Institute of Mental Health's Narcan program (MO-CORPS) may be cut if a federal $56 million grant is reduced, and officials warn that more overdose deaths could result from fewer trained first responders and limited naloxone supplies. The program has trained over 7,760 responders statewide and supplied more than 17,000 naloxone units, meaning rural areas will suffer the most if this resource is lost. KRCG-TV
