CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A homeless man, 29-year-old Harun M. Hussein, was arrested after cameras recorded him throwing rocks and breaking windows at seven Jefferson City businesses Friday—he faces seven felony counts of First Degree Property Damage and is held in Cole County Jail on a $25,000 bond. KRCG-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Megan Titus—an educator at Lincoln University’s School of Nursing—received the Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching on April 2 at the Scruggs Center, an honor given annually to outstanding faculty from Missouri’s public colleges. Lincoln University of Missouri
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting May 12, the Missouri Department of Transportation will close part of Route 179 south of Sandy Hook for a bridge deck replacement over Moniteau Creek—drivers must use Route 87 and Moniteau and Cole County Route N as a detour until early July. KRCG-TV
- ➤ The city's Monroe Street reconstruction project is set to finish by the end of summer — minor weather delays remain, and in November the city hired Don Schnieders Excavating Company to restore an 1,100-foot section for $970,875. Jefferson City News Tribune
