- ➤ Lincoln University of Missouri has won a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence award to host Mozambican scholar Egidio Chaimite in 2026 — he will teach political science courses and share research methods while living with his family in mid-Missouri — as part of an international academic exchange program. - ➤ On Monday, the Missouri Senate Committee on Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety heard from law enforcement officials and gun rights advocates about Rep. Bill Hardwick’s proposed new version of the Second Amendment Preservation Act—his bill would bar state agencies from enforcing federal gun laws and allow lawsuits up to $50,000 per incident. Several police representatives warned that if the proposal passes, it may reduce access to federal resources and lead to legal challenges. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Animal advocates gathered at the state Capitol on Wednesday for Humane Day to protest unregulated puppy mills in Missouri. The state was ranked first in the Humane Society's Horrible Hundred for 13 years due to 26 facilities — supporters hope SB65 will improve cross-reporting of animal and child abuse cases. KRCG-TV
- ➤ The Missouri General Assembly introduced two bills today to stop sellers from tricking customers by calling fake wood real wood. SB 760 by Senator Jamie Burger and HB 1537 by Representative Tony Harbison, now in committee, aim to protect Missouri’s $10 billion wood industry—employing over 42,000 people—and help buyers know what they are getting.
