COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Shawn McKnight, the current bishop of the Jefferson City Diocese, was appointed by Pope Francis as the fifth Archbishop of Kansas City and was introduced at a press conference in Kansas City at 1 p.m. Tuesday; he will lead his diocese until his installation on May 27, after which the College of Consultors will elect an administrator to manage the diocese. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Latrell Dashon Batts, 27, a Jefferson City man with a prior felony conviction, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday for allegedly possessing a stolen gun and ammunition and is held at Cole County Jail. ABC 17
- ➤ A Jefferson City man, Bryan E. Couch, faces two felony counts of Stealing — Firearm and one misdemeanor count of Making False Report after he reported stolen guns on March 31 though evidence showed one gun was sold to a Columbia pawn shop in September and the other to a Jefferson City pawn shop in October.
