- ➤ First Baptist Church in Jefferson City pledged up to $100,000 to address homelessness and inadequate housing—funds that will support efforts to help provide stable shelter for those in need. Jefferson City News Tribune
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday at 5:34 p.m.—the porch and outdoor staircase at a second-floor apartment in the 1400 block of St. Mary's Boulevard collapsed, causing four people to fall about 15 feet; two adults and one child were taken to University Hospital in stable condition while one person was treated on scene. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fatima Elementary School speech therapist Ashlee Ryan is working to build an adaptive playground on flat ground so all students can play safely. The project will cost $200,000, is partly funded by a $30,000 grant, and will be boosted by a Comet Fest fundraiser on April 25 from 6-10 p.m. — with a silent auction, live music and more to raise money. - ➤ The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Missouri will host the 90th Sophomore Pilgrimage on Tuesday for more than 160 students from across the state, while the local GFWC Dianas Club—sponsoring 10 area students based on scholarship and leadership—ensures they receive certificates of citizenship.
