COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Wednesday, April 2, an EF-2 tornado hit Pilot Grove and damaged or destroyed ten homes near the Katy Manor nursing home along Highway 135—no serious injuries were reported. State Rep. Tim Taylor said utility crews from Co-Mo Electric and other partners worked around the clock to restore power—residents praised the crews even as debris slowed crop planting.  KWOS
  • Wade Middaugh will step down as CEO of the Boys and Girls Club on May 15 - he will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer at the Special Learning Center. He spent nearly a decade building youth programs and community partnerships in Jefferson City.  KRCG-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded around 5:30 p.m. Friday after a porch collapsed in an apartment on the 1400 block of St. Mary’s Boulevard in Jefferson City, where four people fell nearly 15 feet and two adults plus a child were taken to University Hospital in Columbia while EMS recalled off-duty staff due to extended transport times—all are stable.  ABC 17

HEALTH NEWS

  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield said it is working with other local health care providers after not reaching a deal with MU Health Care by March 31. Boone Health has set up a dedicated phone line (573-815-3000) to answer patient questions as SSM Health also reports a surge in calls from Anthem insurance holders.  ABC 17
