- ➤ The Missouri House approved a bipartisan bill on Thursday to help Medicaid patients get healthy, locally grown food by requiring the Department of Social Services to seek federal approval for a Food is Medicine program (MO HealthNet). Healthcare professionals can then prescribe produce and tailored meals to manage chronic diseases. KRCG-TV
- ➤ The Jefferson City Transportation Committee recommended safety improvements near Moreau Heights Elementary on Friday after a December 2024 study found speeding issues along the route where 150 students walk; the plan includes trimming trees (to clear an obscured crosswalk), enforcing no-parking zones, and adding crosswalk signs pending council approval. - ➤ A health care bill passed Thursday in the Missouri House expands Medicaid coverage for doulas by increasing visits from six to 16 for low-income families. Sponsored by Rep. Tara Peters, the measure passed 129 to 20 and now moves to the Senate (aimed at improving maternal care). KRCG-TV
