CRIME NEWS

  • After Callaway County law enforcement searched for him following a stolen vehicle incident, Jefferson City police arrested Dillion Johnson on the 1700 block of East Miller Street and Cole County prosecutors charged him with Possession of a Controlled Substance + resisting arrest for a felony.  KRCG-TV
  • Holts Summit police are investigating a death on US 54 between Simon Blvd and Center St. overpasses from Friday morning—the driving lane toward Jefferson City remains shut down during the investigation—and more details are pending.  ABC 17
  • One lane of Highway 54 toward Jefferson City was closed Friday morning as the Holts Summit Police led a death investigation between Simon Boulevard and Center Street overpasses.  KRCG-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lincoln University’s College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences hosted 550 high school students from 27 Missouri schools on March 11 for its 43rd annual FFA Career Development Experience—students worked through practice contests in livestock, forestry, soils and other areas at LU’s Jason Gymnasium and offsite locations. Special Assistant Amy Bax said the students could ask judges for help after each contest.  Lincoln University of Missouri

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After demolishing a historic home on Capitol Avenue, the City of Jefferson announced that the Missouri Association of Counties has purchased the Buescher Memorial Home at 429 E. Capitol Avenue to be renovated into their new headquarters—restoration plans will preserve the building's original color, signage and columns while converting the space for offices and meetings.  KRCG-TV
  • On Thursday, firefighters from across the state were honored at the state capitol for battling wildland and brush fires amid high winds and dry conditions. The ceremony also recognized emergency telecommunicators—vital first responders in directing rescue efforts—and remembered the seven firefighters who fell this year.  KRCG-TV
