- ➤ Ameren Missouri hosted its Natural Gas Utility Worker's Day at its Operation Center in Columbia to honor work crews who restored service after storms and to showcase the training that turns apprentices into natural gas journeymen—trainee Cassey Dahl from Ashland will complete her 2-year apprenticeship in August. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mid-Missouri residents are asked not to burn items today after a red flag warning was issued by the National Weather Service due to dry, windy conditions—following large wildfires in Boone and Camden counties. The Jefferson City Fire Department has increased staffing—preparing for higher fire risks as extreme weather season begins. ABC 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Mike Kehoe signed a $1.9 billion supplemental budget bill that funds state operations through Fiscal Year 2025—combining general revenue, federal funds and other sources—and supports education, senior care and law enforcement across Missouri. Jefferson City News Tribune
- ➤ Friday's storms destroyed 368 houses, caused major damage to 356 houses and left 1,058 houses with minor damage while 12 tornadoes were confirmed and 12 people died. Governor Mike Kehoe announced on Monday that federal and state teams will begin joint damage assessments in 23 counties starting Thursday, March 20. KRCG-TV
- ➤ Construction on the 179 Bypass Trail in Jefferson City is in its final phase as it connects Cavalier Drive to West Edgewood Drive—adding a crosswalk with warning lights and an island for pedestrians—and it will be finished by summer. ABC 17
- ➤ Governor Mike Kehoe asked FEMA to join teams checking damage after Friday’s storms hit 23 counties (including Jefferson), where 368 houses were destroyed and many others were damaged. Six teams will survey the damage on Thursday (to see if federal aid will be requested). ABC 17
