CULTURE NEWS

  • Paddy Malone's Irish Pub (owned by Allen and Marilee Tatman) hosts its busiest weekend today with doors opening at noon, a parade starting at 2 p.m., and live Irish music following; Jefferson City police urge residents to plan safe rides to avoid impaired driving.  KRCG-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Jefferson City Board of Education on Thursday approved a $65,783.70 contract for new door locks at the Academic Center and a 28% pay raise for substitute teachers and other staff starting in July. The board also set a preliminary budget for the 2026-27 school year (revenues over $138 million).  ABC 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a Thursday meeting, the Public Works and Planning Committee voted 3-2 to defer the $155,000 plan for adding seven parking spots at the Jefferson City Community Center and instead requested more details on cheaper options; board members are upset and a follow-up meeting is set for April 9.  Jefferson City News Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Reagan Wobbe made a key free throw with four seconds left to help St. Elizabeth beat Delta 68 — 64 in Thursday’s Class 1 state championship game at Mizzou Arena. The win gives the school its first girls basketball state title after nine trips to the Final Four.  Jefferson City News Tribune
