  • Holts Summit Fire Protection District responded to a fire at a utility building on the 12000 block of County Road 391 at 8:35 p.m. on March 12 and brought the blaze under control within 30 minutes—a team later declared the building a total loss as they investigate the cause.  KRCG-TV

  • The Jefferson City School District is taking a cautious approach to its budget as it plans for next year's state funding uncertainties — the board adjusts spending to meet future needs.  Jefferson City News Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The House Transportation Committee heard House Bill 1409 on Tuesday evening to move federal and motor vehicles tax money from MoDOT to a road fund that the legislature will oversee—some lawmakers worry the change may harm long-term projects and break state law.  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • VA workers in mid-Missouri are upset as a memo warns that up to 80,000 jobs could be cut—this news has raised deep concerns at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital. Local Rep. David Tyson Smith said a visitor in Jefferson City and other employees fear the changes could also impact the care veterans rely on.  KRCG-TV
