- ➤ Lincoln University hosted its inaugural King’s Table Men’s Empowerment Experience in February on campus, where student Gabriel Williams and keynote speaker Adrian Cyrus Hendricks II led discussions on purpose, mental health, and growth. - ➤ Lincoln University celebrated 160 years of service in the 2025–2026 academic year with projects such as LU Day of Ringing (Nov. 18), High Five Fridays for local youth, a Jamaican hurricane relief clothing drive, and a Feb. 26 blood drive at Scruggs Ballroom. Lincoln University of Missouri
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Boone County Fire Protection District has appointed Chuck Doss as its new assistant chief of operations bureau. Doss brings nearly 30 years of fire and EMS experience — having served with BCFPD, Olathe Fire Department, and MU Health Care—to lead enhanced training and emergency response. KRCG-TV
- ➤ A MoDOT study released in February found that 19% of animal crashes statewide over the past decade occurred in Mid-Missouri, mostly involving deer. The agency identified high-priority segments on Route DD in Johnson County, Highway 36 in Macon County and Highway 17 near Waynesville and recommended lowered speed limits, warning signs and fences for safer roads. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Cole County EMS recorded 14,071 calls in 2025, with traffic accidents as the most common call, and improved response times thanks to its new Adams Street headquarters. Chief Eric Hoy said they will monitor call volumes + adjust resources as they expect more calls in 2026 with the aging community. ABC 17
