  • K9s on The Front Line is hosting its 8th annual Show Me Honor Awards Dinner at Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City Saturday, March 7. The event — featuring a cocktail hour, buffet dinner and silent auctions — will honor veterans and first responders.  KRCG-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Billboards promoting safe online exchanges are displayed across Mid-Missouri — including near Jefferson City — after Michael Ryan Burke was fatally shot on Jan. 18 when arranging a cellphone sale via Facebook Marketplace, and Lamar Advertising’s Tim Ketchum urged the community to consider safer meeting spots.  ABC 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Missouri FCCLA, led by State President Bella Baker, promotes Family and Consumer Sciences education to build leadership, financial literacy and career readiness. The organization is highlighting its work during National FCCLA Week, Feb. 8-14, and will host Legislative Shadowing Day at the Missouri Capitol in April.  The Missouri Times
  • James Charles, an 8th-grader at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, was named Student of the Quarter by the Jefferson City Boys and Girls Club for his academic excellence, leadership and community spirit. He joined the club after moving from California (Missouri) and is recognized as a promising role model locally.  KRCG-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MoDOT crews are patching potholes on I-70 between exits 133 and 137 from Feb. 3 to Feb. 6; motorists are advised to slow down and move over as lane closures occur daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  KRCG-TV
