  • Nine-year-old pitbull mix Diesel (neutered and up to date on shots) was featured as Best Friend of the Week yesterday on KRCG 13 Live at Sunrise at Callaway County Humane Society after impressing viewers with tricks including jumping through a hula hoop.  KRCG-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. John Yang at Lincoln University is examining how agricultural nanoparticles affect plant uptake and soil microbes to guide safer farming practices. He plans to share preliminary results at a research symposium in March while ongoing analysis continues.  Lincoln University of Missouri
  • Lincoln University marked 160 years of education on Thursday, Jan.15 with a Founders’ Day Convocation at Mitchell Auditorium. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri Department of Conservation reported 301,954 deer were harvested statewide during the season ending Jan. 15, including 62,203 shot during archery with Jefferson County recording 1,571 deer; statewide totals rebounded from last year.  KRCG-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Missouri hunters can now use artificial light, night vision and thermal imaging to hunt coyotes from Jan. 1 through Sept. 30 except during the spring turkey season. The rule, approved by the Conservation Commission last fall, lets hunters keep, move and sell coyote pelts and carcasses all year.  KRCG-TV
